Who we are
The Minute daily is a news publication network built with citizen journalists, creators and influencers. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the website, why we collect it and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Newsletter signup. Your email address and the time you subscribed, so we can send you the newsletter you asked for. The signup form only works if you tick the consent box.
- Membership. When you join, the details needed to run your membership: your name, email address and billing information. Payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Messages you send us. If you write to us, we keep the message and your contact details for as long as it takes to answer and follow up.
- Usage data. With your consent, analytics cookies tell us which pages are read and how people move through the site. This data is aggregated and does not identify you.
How we use it
We use your data to deliver the newsletter and memberships you signed up for, to answer your messages, to keep the site secure and to understand which stories and sections matter to readers. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision making.
Legal basis
We rely on your consent for the newsletter and for analytics and marketing cookies, on our contract with you for memberships, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website for everything else.
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us run the site: email delivery, payments, hosting and analytics. Each of them only receives the data needed for their job and is bound by a data processing agreement. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep the site working and remember your cookie choices. Analytics and marketing cookies are off until you accept them. You can change your mind at any time from the cookie preferences, which also appear in the footer of every page.
How long we keep it
Newsletter data until you unsubscribe. Membership data for the length of your membership plus the period tax and accounting rules require. Messages for up to two years after our last exchange. Analytics data for 14 months.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, and take it with you to another service. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time; every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@theminutedaily.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top is updated. Significant changes are announced in the newsletter and on the site before they take effect.
